Healthy Connections

Healthy Connections is a new program offered by the Elizabeth Fry Society. Twice a month, the Volunteer Coordinator, along with the help of 2-3 volunteers, visit the women’s unit at the Regional Psychiatric Centre to offer activities that focus on healthy and active living choices. These activities equip women with skills to be healthier upon their release back into the community, thus reducing the rate of recidivism.  Volunteers also benefit by developing a better understanding of criminalized women along with counseling and community leadership skills.
