The purpose of the Community Development and Public Outreach program is to promote the Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan and its work, to provide opportunities to learn more about criminalized women and to promote relationship building and partnerships within the greater Saskatoon community. We strive to promote community acceptance and understanding of the unique reasons why women enter the criminal justice system and the situation that many find themselves in when they return to the community. Reducing the stigma of criminalization is important when educating the public.
Public Outreach is also significant because we assist people from all walks of life through various legal and criminal justice processes and our services are important to the community.
Through public outreach we promote alternatives to incarceration and challenge community members to envision a more effective and efficient criminal justice system. On an ad hoc basis we continue to offer workshops, community events and forums, information and referral, and individualized presentations.
